After School Club
Qualified and experienced staff providing activities and free play options.
At Blaydon Youth and Community Centre we offer a welcoming, family-friendly, and most importantly, fun After School Club for children aged 3 to 11.
Our qualified and experienced childcare staff pick up children in our mini-buses from three local primary schools: Blaydon West, St. Joseph’s, and St. Mary and St. Thomas Aquinas.
Once back at the Youth Centre, we utilize all available spaces—the older children typically head to our ‘Social Area,’ while the younger ones enjoy our Play Room. Our staff provide a variety of activities and free play options for the kids while we prepare a light tea for them.
The After School Club runs from 3pm to 6pm and costs £10 per session, which includes transportation and a light snack for the children.
Activities
Blaydon Youth & Community Centre offers a variety of facilities and activities for children of all ages. They can enjoy the Play Room with arts, crafts, and sensory activities, or relax in the Social Area with games, air hockey, and more.
The Outdoor Play Area provides additional space for fun and exploration. Whether children are into construction toys, board games, or sports, there’s something for everyone to enjoy after a busy day.
Outdoors
Outdoors, children can explore a variety of fun activities like climbing, sliding, and sand play. They can cook in the mud kitchen, play with outdoor toys, or enjoy our camper van.
The Sports Hall and Sports Field host active play, including group games and sports, while the new Outdoor Classroom lets kids grow fruits, vegetables, and herbs, fostering a connection with nature. seasonal activities like frog hunting! We’re also planning on offering a Forest School – watch this space for news!

Food & Nutrition
Children are provided with water, milk and juice throughout the session. There is also a variety of fresh fruit available.
Each night we cook a light tea or snack and children have helped us develop the dishes we offer – their favourites being; spaghetti bolognese, lasagne, sausage and mash, beans on toast, chicken noodles, fish fingers or chicken nuggets and chips, vegetable and tomato soup, bagels and crumpets with a variety of toppings, wraps with a variety of fillings, pitta or wrap pizza’s and more.

Session Times & Prices
After School Club runs from 3pm – 6pm and costs £10 per session, this covers the cost of transport and a light snack for children.
